I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of seeing secular companies, organizations, movements living out the great commandment from Jesus to love each other. It seems like everything they do is done with excellence and marketed the best. The media picks up on every news bite, while the church hardly gets any coverage.
I was paying my homage to Starbucks a few days ago, and saw their “do good everyday” campaign in partnership with the (red) organization. They have a social site set up here, and with a location on every corner just about…it’s going to take off and have a major impact.
I’m not knocking on (red) or Starbucks. I love them both. I think they are doing a great job to elevate this platform. My rub comes in when I see something like this:
I watch this, visit the site i linked above…and start to daydream of the Church stepping out like this in a big mainstream way. I don’t mean the Church, as in the building down the street. I’m talking about the church, the body of Jesus Christ followers who make it up.
I long to see something like (red) and a partnership with Starbucks that declares this brotherly love in the name of Jesus. What if all of the true Christians stepped out and used their God given talents to create a movement like this. What if every Christian used all their influence, position, relationships, and passion to make an impact in their community.
What would the world look like if every Christians made loving God with all their heart, mind, and soul a priority in 2009. What would happen if every Christian loved their neighbor (everyone that is, friendly and not) as Jesus loved them…with out expectations and whole heartedly….What if???
