Mogwai “The Hawk Is Howling”

8 07 2009

This was my jam yesterday as I worked through my least favorite program Excel. They came up in my slacker custom radio for MuteMath. They have a great catalog of intrumental mood rock / prog rock / slash cool groove. Here is a non-official Mogwai YouTube music vid for the song…no real video, just the album image for the latest “The Hawk Is Howling” ’08 release.

Enjoy, check them out on MySpace.

John Mark McMillan

So, i have to admit…working in the music business has it’s perks. And when you work in the Christian music genre with a focus on praise & worship, well the perks go beyond just some good tunes. I have the privilege to worship every week in our Wednesday Chapel at Integrity with some guys like John Mark McMillan.

John is an amazing worship leader, who has already had an impact throughout the church (global church) with the song “How He Loves Me.” Some influential worship leaders/teams like Jesus Culture and Hillsong United have used it in their worship set list. Take a look at John’s moving video from The Call gathering in Nashville and you will see why:

There is something very special about the way John approaches songwriting, worship leading, and the church. I don’t even want to begin to classify or put his styles into a category box. It’s real, it’s unfiltered, it’s an open heart. Here is one of my favorite songs (“Make You Move“) from the “The Songs Inside The Sounds of Breaking Down” album:

So, Wednesday will be another amazing Chapel time…can’t wait to see what God is going to do through John’s ministry. Check him out online, here’s the vitals:

Breathe In & Smile Out,

What MySpace was really made for…

10 06 2008

The last few days have been rough for me, and of all things to lift my spirits….MySpace has been the catalyst. I should say the thing that MySpace was really made for is what actually helped pick me up. My good friend, fellow musician, and local band legend, Bo Roberts passed away about a week ago. Since then the local music community has moved to his MySpace, , in a big way to pay homage to him.

I know this isn’t anything new or groundbreaking digital news. But it did remind me of what the heart of social networking. Where people can come together to share music, memories, and life. I can say for the families and friends it has been a place of comfort. So, tonight I’m thankful for the cyber social platforms like MySpace. And I’m even more thankful that I have a place where we all can gather to share stories about life.

Enjoy Everyday,
